Character Name: Lily Evans
Birth Date: 30 January 1960; 18 years old
Former House: Gryffindor
Bloodline: Muggleborn
Sexuality: Straight; heterosexual
Patronus: Doe
Wand: Willow, 10 1/4
Alignment: Light; Member of the Order of the Phoenix when she was alive.

Relationships/Family:
Father: William Evans
Mother: Mary Evans
Sister: Petunia Evans Dursley
Brother-in-law: Vernon Dursley
Nephew: Dudley Dursley
Husband: James Potter
Friends: Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, Dorcas Meadowes, --- more to be added. Let me know if you believe Lily and your character are friends!

Personality: Like all other redheads, Lily has a temper to match. Though she doesn't often show it and is usually quite amiable, she can occasionally be vindictive and rather haughty. She's feisty, snarky, and has a lot of Slytherin attributes. Lily is very resourceful and rather likes getting her way. However, for each of her negative qualities, there are at least ten positive ones.

Equated to that of a flower child, she prefers peace and love to war and hate. She would give someone the clothes off her back if they needed it and has always believed in those that never believed in themselves. Appearances mean very little to her, as does birth and blood, as is obvious by her fierce friendship with Severus Snape. Lily is exceptionally caring, often putting others before her and seeing to their needs before her own.

Gryffindor house is said to be the home of those that are brave and loyal, qualities Lily undeniably possesses. Her loyalty to her friends and those she loves is insurmountable. Though her bravery only comes when it's necessary, Lily doesn't hesitate to help protect those that are oftentimes incapable or too meek to protect themselves.

History: As a child, Lily was nothing but an ordinary child with no magical abilities whatsoever. Born on 01 December 1959, Lily Evans was the second child of William and Mary Evans. Petunia Evans, the oldest daughter, was jealous of little Lily when she returned home from the hospital; all attention appeared to be focused solely on the new baby and Petunia had resented her baby sister for quite some time. However, as the two sisters grew and matured (at least, as mature as a pair of primary school children can be), they grew exceptionally closer. Petunia prided herself on being Lily's guardian and often instructed Lily to do this or that. The younger sister; however, rarely seemed to mind her older sister's bossiness. She followed her constantly, holding her hand, and asking her to tell her story after story. When boys at school would tease Lily about her bright red hair and rather precocious green eyes, Petunia would always set them straight. The two sisters were close and it wasn't until shortly before Lily turned eleven that a rift would grow between them.

Lily's magic first appeared when she was nine years old. Standing in the middle of the playground between her house and Spinner's End (a place her parents had forbidden Lily and Petunia from ever stepping foot inside), Lily was entranced by a flock of butterflies that languidly danced across the playground. Happiness warmed inside her and a smile found its way to her face. She wanted to chase after one and hold onto it; everything in her wanted to hold one of those lovely creatures in the palms of her small hands and before she even had the chance to move, one flew her way and landed quietly and safely in Lily's extended hands. Deciding it was merely a fluke, Lily observed the beautiful creature, smiling at how gracefully majestic it was and gently let it fly away. Days later, Lily tried it again just to see if she had been imagining the fact that it purposefully flew straight to her, and to her surprise that afternoon, another one did! "It's like magic!" she had exclaimed to her sister after running home and beckoning her to give up her homework and come to the playground to watch. Again, Lily called a butterfly to her and with a squeal of excitement, it landed in her outstretched hands. Glancing up at her sister, Lily had expected to see a pleased looking on petunia's face, but instead, her brows were furrowed and a deep frown appeared on her face. She told Lily to never do that again; that it was weird and simply not normal.

But on one of the rare occasions, Lily did not listen to her sister. She believed she had a gift; not magic, exactly, but something of a talent that called butterflies to her. One day, she and her sister were playing on the playground and Lily, much to Petunia's displeasure, had called another butterfly to her. Moments later, after Petunia had grown even more annoyed, a boy whom they had seen several times appeared on the playground and Lily had regarded him carefully. He told her that what she had done was real magic and that she would receive a Hogwarts letter. Confused and otherwise baffled by the encounter, Lily had reluctantly followed Petunia when she had insisted that they go home. But Lily returned later and found the boy - Severus Snape, or Sev as she would soon call him, and he told her all about Hogwarts, about how magic existed and how they would go to school together and learn it. Her eyes had lit up, bright against the darkening sky on the horizon, and excitement burned within her body. She was a witch, a real witch.

Sure enough, as Severus had predicted, Lily received her Hogwarts letter the day she turned eleven. Though her parents were confused and unsure of whether or not to take it seriously, they smiled at their daughter and allowed her to go. "A witch in the family," her mother had said, a smile on her face, and Lily had turned to look at Petunia. Her sister had looked on her that evening with a firm sense of loathing that Lily had never seen before; she spent the night crying in her room.

When the first of September arrived, Lily was nothing but a bundle of excited nerves. The Evans, along with Severus, and driven to Kings Cross station in London, but were confused as to how to actually get onto the platform until Severus showed them the correct way. Lily bid her parents a tearful farewell and had turned to give her sister a hug, but Petunia had merely turned on her heel and marched back to the car. Together, and with tears in her eyes, Lily and Severus went through the barrier onto Platform 9 3/4. Amazed, Lily looked around, her eyes wide and her tears momentarily forgotten as Severus took her arm and pulled her to the train. They found a compartment, one that had originally been empty, but later, a group of boys entered. Lily had given them a smile and then she and Severus ducked closer to carry on their own conversation. She barely remembers what happened: one minute, Severus had been whispering about how he wanted her in Slytherin and then the two boys next to them started going on about how that house was horrible and then teasing Severus because of his name. Lily had glared at the both of them before she and Sev found a new compartment.

During the Sorting Ceremony, albeit to her disappointment, Lily was sorted into Gryffindor. She was mournfully as Severus was placed in Slytherin. Their eyes had connected across the Great Hall and she had given him an apologetic look. Settling into her house that night, Lily wondered if she actually fit into Gryffindor, but such worries were soon alleviated as she quickly made friends with the girls in her dormitory. Classes were relatively hard for her in the beginning, even when she had read the required reading that summer, but as she finally settled in and got a hang of her wand, they became easier and easier to the point where she was one of the students at the top of her class. Charms and Potions were her favourite subjects, and she rather liked Professor Slughorn - even if he was incredibly odd sometimes. Though she did well in all her classes, Transfigurations was the one subject she actually had to work extra hard at to get the marks she wanted.

The years at Hogwarts passed relatively quickly; classes and studying, along with her circle of friends kept her busy and from having any down moments. For the first few years, Lily and Sev spent every possible moment they could together; they were almost nearly as inseparable as Lily and Petunia had been when they were children. However, as they aged and matured, Lily noticed a change in Sev's demeanor and a change in who he chose to hung out with. They called themselves the Death Eaters, Lily had overheard, and no matter how many times she tried to talk to him about it, Severus merely brushed off the fact that she was concerned they were a bad influence on him. Unfortunately, despite how much she wanted to protect him and keep him from turning to the darker arts, she couldn't. Everything fell apart the day James Potter and Sirius Black decided to turn Severus upside down out by the lake so everyone could see his underpants. Lily, like any friend would have done, tried to get Potter and Black to stop (she absolutely loathed - no, hated them), but Severus had told her that he didn't need her help and called her that name - mudblood. It was the same name his friends had used when speaking of people like her. Enraged, but especially hurt, Lily had turned on her heel and with the dignity she had left, went back to Gryffindor tower with tears threatening to fall.

The following weeks, Severus had tried to make amends with Lily, but she just couldn't forgive him. Call it Gryffindor pride if you will, but she knew that his Death Eater friends had already influenced him enough that he wouldn't be the same Sev she had befriended at their park between their two neighborhoods. He descended further and further into the dark arts over the next few years and there was nothing Lily could do. He was lost to her.

In her fifth year, Lily was made prefect and she remained thus until she became Head Girl her seventh and final year. Though many of the Slytherins tried to skirt her authority at first, Lily was persistent and she had the backing of the teachers - the Slytherin Head of House, Professor Slughorn, among them. When Lily became Head Girl, she had always assumed that Remus Lupin would likely get the Head Boy position, but lo and behold, that was far from the case. She stood on the train, wide eyed and completely in shock, as James Potter told her he was to be Head Boy. At first, she was irritated and believed that Professor Dumbledore had fallen off his rocker, but as the months went by, she and Potter began to come to an understanding. She bit her tongue when with him, deciding that it would be better to do so than to spend each night during rounds fighting. However, that arrangement soon allowed Lily to see the real James Potter. After a run-in with Severus and a night on top of the Astronomy Tower where James wanted to know why she had sent him sweets when she seemed to dislike him. A moment of clarity happened and they wound up kissing one another for the first time under Orion and Cassiopeia. Though they didn't officially get together for a few weeks, the point is - they did.

As the year continued, Lily studied her hardest and tried to keep up life as Head Girl, girlfriend, and student. It wasn't easy and things were sometimes tense between her and James, but they managed to make it work. She sat her N.E.W.T.s at the end of the year and managed to earn a total of six - Charms, Transfigurations (thanks to James, Remus, and Sirius' help), Potions, Astronomy, DADA, and Herbology. After school, Lily went home for a short bit and spent time with her family. Her father died not long afterwards and it was a very hard time for Lily who happened to be very close to her father. Distracting herself, Lily joined the Order of the Phoenix with many other people from her year. Together, they fought Voldemort and his Death Eaters, sometimes getting hurt and others just barely getting out without a scratch. In November 1978, James proposed to Lily and by the end of the month (the 22nd, to be exact), the two were married in a quiet ceremony with only the closest friends and Lily's mother (Petunia had turned down the invitation). Now, Lily is still fighting and devoting much of her energy to the Order and bringing down Voldemort. One day, she wants to have a family with James and go through the Healer program at St. Mungos, but before doing either, she wants the world to be a much safer place.
