I can't believe I've failed to use these journal things as a means of announcing things like the upcoming Prefects meeting. So, all prefects, there will be a meeting this Thursday in our usual classroom. We'll be discussing the upcoming Hogsmeade trip on 9 February and our plans for Valentines Day. James and I have come up with several ideas for what we can do on Valentines Day and we're excited to discuss them with you. Hopefully there won't be too much pink floating around the castle.

There, now that that announcement is made, I shouldn't have to hunt everyone down and tell them personally. There are signs in the common rooms, but I have a sneaking suspicion that not everyone sees them there anyway. Ours is always covered up by Quidditch announcements and other less important announcements.

Oh, Mary, while it's on my mind, did you ever retrieve your cat from Peter? I saw him earlier, but I didn't see any cat trailing behind him so I thought I should make sure.

Honestly, Potter, do you truly want to get involved in a pot and kettle situation here? I would say that anyone who is unable to confront a person without at least two of his friends playing thugs behind him is, yes, a coward.

You disappoint me. Those are variations on a theme. You would think there is enough about me that you dislike that you'd be more creative than that.

I`ll confront you alone whenever you like and you know it. If you suggest that, because I have friends I should therefore be called a coward, well then...I guess I understand, seeing as how you are a sneaking git who trusts and likes no one, not even yourself, and probably think the mere concept of friendship shows weakness and cowardice. An interesting theory, but again we disagree, just as we disagree that people should spend most of their time with their ugly greasy head shoved in Dark Arts book trying to figure out how to gain fast power.

You confuse dislike with the ability to tease. The things that are most dispicable about you (and there are many) are too sad and revolting to joke about. Though maybe one day I`ll ask Sirius to write a poem.

I confuse, do I? I think you're the one confused, Potter. You confuse a desire for complete education with obsession in Dark Arts. You're idiot enough to confuse the idea of Dark Arts with desire for power.

You're right about one thing, though - I have no need of friendship. I don't need constant affirmation from adoring sheep. I am strong enough to get along quite well on my own. But if you think I should feel bad about that, or consider it a fault? Then it's you confused again.

	What other purpose is there to the dark arts, then? It is based on exactly that desire. It is made for people who, just like you, put themselves first and will blast others out of the way if that is what it takes to gain a little more power.
